How to Download a Website or a List of URLs for Offline Use

The quickest method to create a task is through the Create Task bar in the Tasks tab:

  • This is a perfect method for getting just webpages. You only need to enter the address of a webpage and press Enter key (or click on the Get button). You can also drag a URL from external or the built-in browser to the Tasks window or to the Drop Box.
  • If you want to retrieve a webpage and all links from the page, you should also set the Depth of link exploration to 1. To download a webpage, all pages linked to the page, and all pages linked to all those pages, set the Depth to 2. Depth can be set as deep as 255. You can raise or lower the Depth for a task at any time. It is not recommended though to set depths to a value more than 2 without specifying a filter. When you create a task through Create Task bar the task is created with the default filter "Retrieve pages within this site only".
  • If you want to download entire website you should set the Depth to a large value (e.g. 20 will be sufficient in most but very rare cases). The program retrieves websites by levels so you can stop a task when a website is retrieved down to a level you think is sufficient.
  • If you want more options (such as to specify filters or get new version of pages and websites) you should create tasks via the New Task dialog box.

See New Task dialog box for more options. You can also import a list of URLs from a text file.

The tasks you create are added to the list of tasks. You can create any number of tasks with same or different parameters including tasks with the same starting URL. If the number of tasks becomes too large you have an option to organize them by folders.

If you are working in Online mode, the pages and websites start downloading immediately after you create a task. If you are in Offline mode the tasks will be waiting until you Go Online. You can watch the progress in the Progress window and the Statistics window. When the number of queued files shown in the Statistics window will become zero, all tasks will be finished.
